The Virgin Marium
Mother of the Messenger Isa
The Koran both Rejects and Accepts the Existence of the Holy Trinity.
Why is it that Islam does not attribute sin to Isa (Jesus), who was immaculately conceived by Marium (Mary)? In one narration, sins of several prophets are mentioned but nothing is mentioned of Jesus' sins. Sin is not attributed to Isa as with other prophets [including Mohammed]
Islamic view of Virgin Mary Islamic view of Jesus
Islam holds Jesus (Arabic: `Isa) to have been a messenger and a prophet of God and the Messiah (The concept of prophecy in Islam is broader than Judaism and Christianity since Muslims distinguish between "messengers" and "prophets". Unlike prophets, messengers are assured of success. All messengers are prophets but not vice versa). According to the Qur'an, he was one of God's (Arabic Allah's) most beloved messengers, a precursor to Muhammad, and was sent to guide the Children of Israel.
Not only is the holiness of Marium and Isa well established in the Koran, but by analysis also is the existence of the Holy Trinity (three person in One God / Allah). The usage of the word we, both capitalized (other than at the beginning of a sentence) and uncapitalized, exists over one thousand times.
In the English language as used, at least in the United States, this contextual usage refers to God. In Sura 2.34 this seems to be the only conclusion that can be drawn from the phrase, "We said to the angels." Again in Sura 2:35 the concept continues, "We said, 'O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, ...' " This seems to be prevalent throughout the whole of the Koran, in part to be quoted. This is substantively inconsistent with the position taken against the concept of three persons in One God.
True Christians believe that there is only one God. The same belief as in Islam. Christianity sees even in the beginning of the Bible the phrase,
[Genesis 1:26f] "Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground."
27 God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them."
Note the usage of terms: God (singular); us and our (plural); them (plural - humans). In verse 27 the terms God, man, image, he, and him (male and female) can be understood as being either singular or plural depending upon context. In the reference "he created them (Adam and Eve)" the term "them" is plural.
When we humans reference God we capitalize the first letter of the reference. God however when making reference to the members of the Godhead has no reason to use capitalized references.
Catholic Christians venerate (not worship for this would be cause for excommunication for one who stubbornly holds otherwise) the Blessed Mother Marium as her origins are fully human. We accept her as the spotless virgin who never sinned. This I understand to also be the Muslim belief. Jesus, whom true Christians accept as one of the members of the Godhead, is worshiped. Only God can be worshiped. There are not three Gods, there is only one Godhead consisting of three divine persons who interact. They are one in that they are in total agreement and harmony in everything they say and do.
- John 17:11 And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.
- Jn. 17:20 "I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.
- Jn. 17:22 And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, 23 I in them (through reception of the Holy Eucharist) and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.
It is through the trichotomy (division / differences) of the Trinity that there is motivation for creation. For a moment try to imagine that there is a single being in existence for untold billions of centuries who comes to the point of saying to Himself that He is going to create. Why, for what reason, what is the motivation? There would be no associative equality of being to act as stimuli as there could be with a triune God.
Each of the three super beings, comprising one God, has a separate identity or form of existence. [In the Christian Bible it is stated that each person consists of body, soul, and spirit.] In the Godhead that which is referred to as the spirit (the essential being) is eternal (without beginning or end). Therefore Isa is without beginning or end since He has always existed. Only His body, His form, is new. Isa took on a body that was the design of the Father, and implanted in Marium with the power of the Holy Ghost. Through the power of God the body of Jesus (His external form) can die and be revitalized. The vitality of any individual is in the spirit which once in existence never ceases to exist.
In unity and harmony the Godhead is creatively functional. Separately or individually they can accomplish nothing for they would in a sense be at war (without unifying purposes). Due to creation each has enhancement of being. This is true even though the utility for each, resulting from creation, would be different. To accomplish a goal, each person of the Trinity must eternally benefit in some way. They work together to accomplish their individual objectives. We are expected to work together if we are to accomplish our goal for eternal happiness which has its focus within the realm of the Trinity. Each member of the Trinity and each human found worthy on judgement day will benefit from believing and acting as one (united), each accomplishing a purpose for existence.
[Sura 2.34] And when We said to the angels: Make
obeisance to Adam they did obeisance, but
Iblis (did it not). He refused and he was
proud, and he was one of the unbelievers.
[2.35] And We said: O Adam! Dwell you and
your wife in the garden and eat from it a
plenteous (food) wherever you wish and do
not approach this tree, for then you will be of
the unjust.
[2.36] But the Shaitan made them both fall from
it, and caused them to depart from that (state)
in which they were; and We said: Get forth,
some of you being the enemies of others, and
there is for you in the earth an abode and a
provision for a time.
[Sura 2.87] And most certainly We gave Musa (Moses) the
Book and We sent apostles after him one
after another; and We gave Isa, the son of
Marium, clear arguments and strengthened
him with the holy spirit, What! whenever then
an apostle came to you with that which your
souls did not desire, you were insolent so you
called some liars and some you slew.
[SURA 2.253] We have made some of these apostles
to excel the others among them are they to
whom Allah spoke, and some of them He
exalted by (many degrees of) rank; and We
gave clear miracles to Isa son of Marium, and
strengthened him with the holy spirit.
[SURA 3.36] So when she brought forth, she said:
My Lord! Surely I have brought it forth a
female and Allah knew best what she brought
forth and the male is not like the female, and I
have named it Marium, and I commend her
and her offspring into Thy protection from the
accursed Shaitan.
[Sura 3.42. And when the angels said: O Marium! surely Allah
has chosen you and purified you and chosen
you above the women of the world.
[3.43] O Marium! keep to obedience to your
Lord and humble yourself, and bow down
with those who bow.
[Sura 3.45] When the angels said: O Marium, surely Allah gives you good news with a Word from Him (of one) whose name is the '. Messiah, Isa son of Marium, worthy of regard in this world and the hereafter and of those who are made near (to Allah).
[3.46] And he shall speak to the people when
in the cradle and when of old age, and (he
shall be) one of the good ones.
[3.47] She said: My Lord! when shall there be
a son (born) to me, and man has not touched
me? He said: Even so, Allah creates what He
pleases; when He has decreed a matter, He
only says to it, Be, and it is.
[SURA 4.171] O followers of the Book! do not exceed
the limits in your religion, and do not speak
(lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the
Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only an apostle
of Allah and His Word which He
communicated to Marium and a spirit from
Him; believe therefore in Allah and His
apostles, and say not, Three *. Desist, it is
better for you; Allah is only one God; far be It
from His glory that He should have a son,
whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in
the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.
* If Allah is not three persons in One God, then why does Allah keep making reference to Himself as "We" and "Our"?
It seems likely that Mohammed did not grasp the concept of Three Persons equals One God [One in the sense of being in full agreement in order to achieve their individual goals that could not otherwise be accomplished.]. This is a concept that caused serious problems in the early days of Christianity; for many this is still a question of concern.
[SURA 5.17] Certainly they disbelieve who say:
Surely, Allah He is the Messiah*, son of
Marium. Say: Who then could control
anything as against Allah when He wished to
destroy the Messiah son of Marium and his
mother and all those on the earth?
* Allah is not only Isa the Messiah, but is also Yahweh and the Holy Ghost, i.e., Three divine Persons comprising One God also referred to as the Godhead. This does not signify a disagreement between Muslims and Christians, but is rather a different usage of terminology.
Note: Primacy of position is given to Yahweh (Termed God when used in the singular form) since His existence is necessary for the existence of Isa (Jesus). The existence of both Yahweh and Isa is necessary for there to be reason for the existence (spiration) of the Holy Ghost.
The foregoing should not be seen as to imply that eternal existence (without beginning or end) is not a condition of all three persons equally. The term God or Allah would be meaningless if any one of the three persons did not exist. There would be no intelligent life to give the term meaning, i.e., we would not have existence.
The usage of the term God implies the existence of a relationship, a superior and an inferior. Neither Isa nor the Holy Ghost is inferior to Yahweh. Being different does not imply inferiority.
[SURA 5.75] The Messiah, son of Marium is but an
apostle; apostles before him have indeed
passed away; and his mother was a truthful
woman; they both used to eat food*. See how
We make the communications clear to them,
then behold, how they are turned away.
* The concept of food should not be limited to that which supplies human bodily nourishment. The types of food that Yahweh and the Holy Ghost consume, while different in substance, is nonetheless their form of sustenance. The form of one's existence determines the type of food needed to supply nourishment (Without food there is starvation or stagnation that would be equated with death, even though life remains. This would be true for both God and man.). A finite comparison can be related to the different types of food that cattle, lions, sea creatures, insects and plant life use for nourishment.
Marium
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
[Sura 19.16] And mention Marium in the Book when
she drew aside from her family to an eastern
place;
[19.17] So she took a veil (to screen herself)
from them; then We sent to her Our spirit, and
there appeared to her a well made man (In the Christian Gospel [Luke 1:26] this refers to the angel Gabriel.).
[19.18] She said: Surely I fly for refuge from
you to the Beneficent God, if you are one
guarding (against evil).
[19.19] He said: I am only a messenger of
your Lord: That I will give you a pure boy.
[19.20] She said: When shall I have a boy and
no mortal has yet touched me, nor have I been unchaste?
[19.21] He said: Even so; your Lord says: It is
easy to Me: and that We may make him a sign
to men and a mercy from Us, and it is a matter
which has been decreed.
[19.22] So she conceived him; then withdrew
herself with him to a remote place. ...
[Sura 19.27] And she came to her people with him,
carrying him (with her). They said: O Marium!
surely you have done a strange thing.
[19.28] O sister of Haroun! your father was
not a bad man, nor, was your mother an
unchaste woman.
[19.29] But she pointed to him. They said: How
should we speak to one who was a child in
the cradle?
[19.30] He said: Surely I am a servant of Allah;
He has given me the Book and made me a
prophet;
[19.31] And He has made me blessed
wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on
me prayer and poorrate so long as I live;
[19.32] And dutiful to my mother, and He has
not made me insolent, unblessed;
[19.33] And peace on me on the day I was
born, and on the day I die, and on the day I am
raised to life. (Isa's original body returned to life after He had been murdered.)
[19.34] Such is Isa, son of Marium; (this is) the
saying of truth about which they dispute.
[19.35] It beseems not Allah that He should
take to Himself a ! son (A bodily form in which to experience human life and be best able to communicated with human forms made in His [their] image after His [their] likeness [Genesis 1:26f]. God (the Trinity) is not restricted to time as we understand it ( ¿It is probable that God can undo and rewrite time? ). This early book of the Bible (Genesis) was written about 1,900 years before the time of Mohammed.), glory to be Him; when
He has decreed a matter He only says to it "Be," and it is.
[Sura 19.40] Surely We inherit the earth and all
those who are on it, and to Us they shall be
returned.
[19.49] So when he withdrew from them and
what they worshiped besides Allah, We gave
to him Ishaq (Isaac) and Yaqoub (Jacob), and each one of
them We made a prophet.
[19.50] And We granted to them of Our mercy,
and We left (behind them) a truthful mention
of eminence for them.
[19.51] And mention Musa in the Book; surely
he was one purified, and he was an apostle, a
prophet.
[19.52] And We called to him from the blessed
side of the mountain, and We made him draw
nigh, holding communion (with Us).
[19.53] And We gave to him out of Our mercy
his brother Haroun a prophet.
[19.54] And mention Ismail in the Book; surely
he was truthful in (his) promise, and he was
an apostle, a prophet.
[19.55] And he enjoined on his family prayer
and almsgiving, and was one in whom his
Lord was well pleased.
[19.56] And mention Idris (Enoch) in the Book; surely
he was a truthful man, a prophet,
[19.57] And We raised him high in Heaven.
[19.58] These are they on whom Allah
bestowed favors, from among the prophets
of the seed of Adam, and of those whom We
carried with Nuh, and of the seed of Ibrahim
and Israel, and of those whom We guided and
chose; when the communications of the
Beneficent God were recited to them, they fell
down making obeisance and weeping.
[19.59] But there came after them an evil
generation, who neglected prayers and
followed and sensual desires, so they win
meet perdition,
[19.60] Except such as repent and believe and
do good, these shall enter the garden, and
they shall not be dealt with unjustly in any
way:
[19.61] The gardens of perpetuity which the
Beneficent God has promised to His servants
while unseen; surely His promise shall come
to pass.
[19.62] They shall not hear therein any vain
discourse, but only: Peace, and they shall
have their sustenance therein morning and
evening.
[19.63] This is the garden which We cause
those of Our servants to inherit who guard
(against evil).
[Sura 19.66] And says man: What! when I am dead
shall I truly be brought forth alive?
[19.67] Does not man remember that We
created him before, when he was nothing?
[19.68] So by your Lord! We will most certainly
gather them together and the Shaitans, then
shall We certainly cause them to be present
round hell on their knees.
[19.69] Then We will most certainly draw forth
from every sect of them him who is most
exorbitantly rebellious against the Beneficent
God.
[19.70] Again We do certainly know best those
who deserve most to be burned therein.
[19.71] And there is not one of you but shall
come to it; this is an unavoidable decree of
your Lord.
[19.72] And We will deliver those who guarded
(against evil), and We will leave the unjust
therein on their knees.
[19.73] And when Our clear communications
are recited to them, those who disbelieve say
to those who believe: Which of the two
parties is best in abiding and best in
assembly?
[19.74] And how many of the generations
have We destroyed before them who were
better in respect of goods and outward
appearance!
[19.83] Do you not see that We have sent the
Shaitans against the unbelievers, inciting them
by incitement?
[19.84] Therefore be not in haste against
them, We only number out to them a number
(of days).
[19.85] The day on which We will gather those
who guard (against evil) to the Beneficent
God to receive honors
[19.86] And We will drive the guilty to hell
thirsty
[19.87] They shall not control intercession,
save he who has made a covenant with the
Beneficent God.
[19.88] And they say: The Beneficent God has taken (to Himself) a son.
[19.89] Certainly you have made an abominable assertion
[19.90] The heavens may almost be rent
thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the
mountains fall down in pieces,
[19.91] That they ascribe a son to the Beneficent God.
[19.92] And it is not worthy of the Beneficent
God that He should take (to Himself) a son (Does this not constitute the passing of judgement upon God; what is worthy for Allah to do or not do.).
[19.93] There is no one in the heavens and the
earth but will come to the Beneficent God as a servant. (Jesus proved His human obedience to God the Father to set an example for others to follow, regardless of degree of suffering entailed.)
[19.94] Certainly He has a comprehensive
knowledge of them and He has numbered
them a (comprehensive) numbering.
[19.95] And every one of them will come to Him
on the day of resurrection alone.
[19.96] Surely (as for) those who believe and
do good deeds for t(o) them will Allah bring
about love.
[19.97] So We have only made it easy in your
tongue that you may give good news thereby
to those who guard (against evil) and warn
thereby a vehemently contentious people.
[19.98] And how many a generation have We
destroyed before them! Do you see any one
of them or hear a sound of them?
[66.12] And Marium, the daughter of Imran,
who guarded her chastity, so We breathed
into her of Our inspiration and she accepted
the truth of the words of her Lord and His
books, and she was of, the obedient ones.

A MIRACLE IN EPHESUS
On Sunday, August 20, 2006, as a result of the torrid heat and strong dry winds sweeping across Turkey, 23 enormous forest fires were reported at the same time along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The fires, which struck crowded tourist areas such as Bodrum and Antalya, eventually destroyed 1,200 hectares of forest.
Situated upon the side of Bulbul Mountain (9 kilometers from the ancient Greek city of Ephesus) is the Panaya Kapulu, the "House (or Gate) of the Most Holy One," a small, two-room structure believed to have been the home of the Blessed Virgin Mary during Her sojourn to Ephesus with St. John. The physical details of this house and its location - set on a hill, rectangular in plan with a round back wall, apse and hearth, beside which ran a small stream- correspond to descriptions of Mary's residence in Ephesus written by the Catholic mystic, Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1820).
Fully immersed in greenery, the House of Our Lady, today a shrine visited by both Catholic and Muslim pilgrims, risked going up in flames as fire spread upwards from the bottom of the hill, furiously burning everything in its path. But, the Virgin's house was spared when the roaring flames came to a miraculous halt just one meter (a little over three feet) short of the shrine.
As reported by Asia News (Aug. 26, 2006), the extraordinary nature of the event was confirmed by an Italian Capuchin, Fr. Adriano Franchini, resident of Meryem Ana Evi (Mary's house) and superior of the Custody of Turkey:
Yes, we had a rough time .... We feared the wind may change direction and we would be trapped; the speed with which the flames spread and advances among the pine trees was incredible. We had to escape quickly amid tears and desperate searching for relatives, but everyone was able to reach safety. When we came together down in Selcuk (a town at the foot of the hill), the first news that reached us from the helicopters, when they finally arrived, was really bad: everything is burning, nothing will be saved! Then there was a ray of optimism ... at last, towards the evening, there was the realization that the fire had been truly devastating, spreading across a large area and all around Meryem Ana and our homes, but the shrine and homes had remained intact!
According to Fr. Franchini, the fire around the shrine reached the benches outside, where Mass is celebrated out in the open, and stopped there. "Even around our houses, the fire reached the outer wall on three sides," he added, "and a burnt tree fell on the roof but the flames did not take hold in the residence; even a palm tree one meter from the house was burnt to cinders!"
None of the many pilgrims present were injured and the incident did nothing to stop the influx of tourists and believers, who are currently going in even greater numbers to take stock of the disaster and to admire the miracle.
